Common Types and Thicknesses of Metal Roofing Systems

Metal roofing systems use metal materials as the roofing surface in building enclosure structures. These systems do not bear the structural forces of columns and have a horizontal angle of less than 75°. They provide excellent drainage, insulation, ventilation, and soundproofing. With a lightweight structure and large span, they are suitable for various building roofs. They are flexible in construction, less affected by environment and climate, and have a shorter construction period.

Based on their fixing methods, metal roofing systems can be categorized as follows:

1. Through-Fastened Metal Roofing System:

   Common materials: Profiled color steel sheet and sandwich color steel sheet

   Common market thickness: 0.4-0.6mm

2. Concealed-Fastener Metal Roofing System:

   Common materials: Galvanized steel and galvalume steel with a wood strength of G550

   Common market thickness: 0.5-0.6mm

3. Standing Seam Metal Roofing System:

   Common materials: Aluminum alloy sheet, copper sheet, titanium zinc sheet, galvanized sheet, and galvalume steel sheet

   Common market thickness: 0.7mm

4. Vertical Lock Seam Metal Roofing System:

   Common materials: Aluminum-magnesium-manganese alloy sheet, titanium zinc sheet, galvanized sheet, and galvalume steel sheet

   Common market thickness: 0.9mm, 1.0mm

5. Flat Lock Metal Roofing System:

   Common materials: Copper sheet, titanium zinc sheet, and stainless steel sheet

   Common market thickness: 0.7mm, 0.8mm
