Space frame Nodes- Bolt balls

Nodes starting from DIA90mm diameter (90,110,130,160,200,240,280,300,350...) shall be produced with C45 quality material in conformance with the GB standard, with hot forging in normalized condition and/or machining production techniques. Required bolt connection holes shall be drilled and tapped with digitally controlled drilling machines.

Advantages:

– Load applied to the nodes
– Each node has up to 18 threaded holes as pin jointed connections
– Gives greatest freedom in design

The nodes are balls, to give a free selection for the connection holes. The standard ball nodes have diameters from 49.5mm to 350mm. To connect several members to a relatively small node, the members will have to be conical at the ends. 

Space frame BOLTS- high strength bolt

Strength classification of bolts used in space frame structures shall be of 8.8s/10.9s quality in conformity with GB/T16939-2016 standard, with ISO metric thread sizes. Bolts shall be blacking treatment or coated by DACROMET coating to avoid Hydrogen embrittlement Fracture and will provide high corrosion resistance in conformity with ISO 10683 standard.

(Notes: high strength can’t be heat treated again, so it can’t be hot-dip galvanized after the pipe welded completed.)

Advantages:

- DACROMET coating to avoid Hydrogen embrittlement Fracture

- The bolt has a dowel pin and is screwed into the node via a sleeve.

- Compression is transmitted via the sleeve, stresses via the bolt.

Space frame SLEEVES:

Hexagonal nuts are used to tighten the bolts with wrenches with the help of the pins inserted into the bolts through the nuts. 

Nuts are made of hot or cold rolled Q235B/45# steel/Q345B material in conformity with GB/T700-2006 or GB/T699-2015 standard. 

Nuts are coated with about 275g/m2 zinc by electro galvanization.

Space frame cones & blanking plate

Cones/blanking plate  are the specially formed pieces that are welded to the pipe ends for fixing the bolts. Cones shall be of the same quality material with the pipes and shall be formed either by milling or hot forging methods in conformity with GB/T1591-2008 standards and shall be coated with the paint layer.
